Two "Realists" for President and Vice President !!

There are finally, two people in our midst, from both sides of the isle, that deserve to run this country and get it back on track.

Chris Christie: President

http://www.theepochtimes.com/n2/united-states/chris-christie-lays-into-president-congress-51450.html

"I think people are ready to hear the truth," he said, according to CBS. "I really think it's extraordinarily important for those of us who believe that our country is off on the wrong track to begin the conversation ... about how we fix the problems that ail our states and our country in a direct and blunt way."

And Andrew Cuomo: Vice President

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-02-11/cuomo-s-new-york-budget-cuts-threatened-by-fellow-democrats-pushing-taxes.html

Governor Andrew Cuomo’s plan to cut New York’s budget for the first time in at least 17 years is meeting resistance from fellow Democrats who want to spend more and pay for it by keeping higher income-tax rates set to expire at year-end.

Cuomo, 53, seeks record spending reductions in the two largest parts of the $132.9 billion budget, Medicaid and funds for local schools. Both programs have advocates, including labor unions with millions of dollars to spend on spreading their message. The governor also proposes firing 9,800 state workers unless they agree to $450 million of savings.

These two "GET IT"!

It's time America Got it!

The cookie jar is empty, and, the "Money Fairies" are broke too.

Because of government failure throughout the decades, "WE" have to tighten our belt. There are no more choices !

These two could fix it, quick!

As a NJ'n, I'm thisclose to sacrificing the good of our state for the good of our country and draft Christie to run in 2012. Two good choices but don't forget Walker (gov, WI) and Booker (mayor, Newark, NJ) who also "get it." Shortly after Christie started tackling the over-generously funded state pensions, state health benefit programs and real estate taxes, I phoned the gov's office and volunteered my services for his presidential election campaign for 2016; I haven't heard back from him but I'm sure he'd appreciate this Dem's support.

Wow, Joanna, I'm shocked and pleased at your response! Somehow I didn't think you supported his "radical" agenda (radical meaning fiscally responsibility and common-sense driven)

As many times as I've seen you post I can't quite get a firm grasp on where you stand politically.

Kjm, I'm actually pretty centrist. I've had to stop my phone calls to Christie's office lest he think I'm stalking him, lol! I'm almost giddy when he talks real estate tax reform.

There's plenty of reasonable fiscally responsible governors from both parties. That's what forcing them to balance their budgets does. The problem is we don't force the federal government to balance their budget and neither party will voluntarily take the steps necessary to do so.

I am extremely pleased that Mr. Christie has stated he will not run for the presidency.

I oppose Mr. Christie on almost every stance he has taken regarding education. He supports pulling money away from public schools by providing vouchers for students to attend private schools. He has made a career out of demonizing public school teachers and gutting public education funding, including doing so by circumnavigating the state legislature.

Mr. Christie opposes the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, despite New Jersey having made a successful improvement in improving its environmental outlook.

Mr. Christie has said he would veto any attempts to allow government recognition of same-sex marriage. Speaking of vetoes, Mr. Christie is in favor of the line-item veto, which severely curtails the abilities of the state legislature.

Mr. Christie is a modern Republican, meaning that budget issues are always addressed by gutting desperately needed social services while promising the mantra of "tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts", regardless of the consequences.

I don't live in New Jersey, nor do I travel there, so it's not really my business what Mr. Christie does in New Jersey. The residents of that state elected him. However, if he were to run for the presidency, I would be extremely unhappy.

If the teachers are shelling out their own money for supplies, it's not Christies fault, it's the Feds. fault. All that "Mega Funding" goes to Unions and School administration, period.

Talk to the ones taking the money and miss-managing it!

I have worked in education, overseas. I do not currently work in education in the United States. And yes, I do have an agenda: to ensure the success of public education in my home country and to ensure that it is protected from those that would gut it in favor of private education. I am selfish. I want public education in the United States to be the best in the world, so that when I have children, they will have the right to quality public education, regardless of whatever my particular financial status is at that time.

If the teachers are shelling out their own money for supplies, it's not Christies fault, it's the Feds. fault.

The Department of Education has been under assault by conservatives since President Carter elevated it to a cabinet level position. It has virtually no ability to fund anything relating to public education outside of offering money to schools and states that choose to participate in various federal programs. Education funding, at the primary and secondary level, is almost exclusively the domain of states, counties, and cities / townships.

Not teachers, Teacher Unions!

Governor Christie has attacked teachers through his assault on tenure. Mr. Christie simply does not understand what tenure is, which is a problem for many Americans. It does not make it impossible to fire a failing teacher (although I do believe that the process needs to be reviewed and revised). It does, however, ensure that teachers are not forced to re-interview for their job every year or are subject to the whims of whatever new principal comes into the administration. Tenure simply ensures due process in the dismissal of a teacher.

The majority of teachers are well-trained, capable individuals. They accept low pay (pay which is often frozen and benefits slashed when budget issues pop up), compared to others of equal education and experience, because they care about education. Teachers deserve job security and deserve due process during termination proceedings. Using examples of failing teachers to vilify the profession is unconscionable. It is only going to ensure that even fewer of the brightest Americans want to go into the classroom... where parents insult them, children don't respect them, administrators can fire them on a whim, and politicians criticize them for issues out of their control.

It does, however, ensure that teachers are not forced to re-interview for their job every year or are subject to the whims of whatever new principal comes into the administration.

Why would that be a bad thing? As a civil engineer, I have to do just that to renew my lisc. every two years, including continuing education every 4 years.

Teachers are teaching the youth, that will grow up and help contribute or run this country, and if the teachers turn into bad apples, it's too late. They already taught our kids.

As far as money to public school's, they funnel billions every year, no matter who assaults it. It never changes, so that argument goes out the window against conservatives.

Take Michigan a few years ago:

http://www.educationreport.org/pubs/mer/article.aspx?ID=4366

New evidence suggests that a growing percentage of public school funds are being spent on district administration rather than on teaching.

This increase in district administration spending is most evident in the state's largest school district, Detroit Public Schools (DPS). According to The Detroit News, last year eight Detroit employees were promoted to executive level positions and received pay increases between 11 and 48 percent. At the same time, Detroit teaching and support staff positions were cut. According to The News, DPS will now have 34 executive directors, each of whom earn between $98,000 and $132,600 and oversee school principals or administrative departments, such as adult education.

It's old news, but still relevant today. It's just gotten worse!

As a civil engineer, I have to do just that to renew my lisc. every two years, including continuing education every 4 years.

Teachers are also required to continue their education throughout their career and have continually changing licensing requirements. If you graduate with a civil engineering degree from a respected university, you will receive a certain salary. If you go back to school and spent tens of thousands on a master's degree to increase your skills, would you expect an increase in your salary? Do you believe that two civil engineers, one with a bachelor's and one with a master's, should be hired at the same salary?

New evidence suggests that a growing percentage of public school funds are being spent on district administration rather than on teaching.

Unfortunately, this is a byproduct of the assault on the Department of Education. If it were allowed to operate freely, money would be getting into the classroom. However, because of the constant assault it is under from the Republican Party, the Department of Education is unable to make a positive contribution in the classroom.

However, it is astounding to me that every attempt to improve public education invariably involves insulting teachers as being incapable, lazy, etc. I have no problem with re-examining the education system and especially with seeking means of streamlining and improving administrative issues. I have a problem with the incessant vilification of teachers by politicians and parents.

South Korea and China. Two countries which are absolutely trouncing the United States on educational achievement in mathematics and sciences. Two countries which also have nationally oriented educational systems. Neither the East Asian or the American model is perfect or irredeemable. I believe we can learn from them and they can learn from us.

You misread my post, but I will take responsibility for not presenting the idea more clearly.

What I meant is that if you are hired at Salary X with your bachelor's degree and then you complete a master's degree, increasing your skill set, would you not want that increased to Salary Y to better reflect your new set of skills?

So far he has been Reagonesk, with that trickle down policy of his. Bailout the big corps, so it trickles down to the meager folks. Hahahaha!

blahblahblah....haha....budweiser? c'mon man....that's not an American beer (anymore)...how about a PBR? hmmm...ewww just thinkin bout beer fresh out of bed makes my tummy hurt...I think I'll have some apple juice instead

soooo....how you feeling about the lies foxnazi news is spreading about what's going on in Madison? riots, violence, uncontrollable crowds...what a bunch of bananas huh? I watched the Ed show (he's there-surprisingly no nazinews is there)...I think the assault on the middle class and women and children by the OWNED republicans is rolling us back to the stone age. The Koch brothers and their buddies (Gov. Walker, Boner, Paul DUMBOEARS Ryan I hate that ASSHAT) are really assraping America......such a shame.

Hey! How do you feel about the old gippers presidency? You know, Ronnie? I was born in 1987 so I had to really hit the books to find out all I could because he was the beginning of the (hopefully not) end of the middle class. Let's see...he raised taxes 6 times in his 8 years and it was on people making less than 60,000 a year. What-the-Phuc? Seriously what the phuc is that? His trickle down was him and his cronies peeing on Americans heads.....nice!

If Obama hadn't bailed out GM this country would be in a bag of shiit and he gets NO credit for that. If he hadn't bailed out the CRIMINALS who phucced us over on wall street, in the banking, mortgage and credit card scams we'd be truly assbanged. Credit? NONE. It's those @!$%# rich banking wallstreet phucs that screwed America....get bailed out and receive mega bonuses, then shut down the flow of credit so people can't save their homes or businesses.....such asslickingmutherphuccers I swear.....how about them?

Jesus...I haven't even jumped in the shower yet and I'm soooo fired up....such a losing battle with the asshats on the right who just want to destroy America and there's all these people supporting them who don't phuccin realize they're going to get screwed hard right along with all of us who care.....unless you're one of the elite rich wealthy MFers you're SOL....

Arrrggggg phuc gimme a cigarette and I'll take that BUDWEISER now....so screwed....you know when I get phucced I prefer to enjoy it......I'm just saying.

You know what a teachers' union is? It's teachers. In a Union. To argue that you're not anti-teacher but anti-union means ... you're anti-teacher. Please provide me with the data showing how teachers' unions take massive amounts of money at the expense of their membership. I'm dying to study that.

As for teachers being "selfish," they provide an important service to this country. Pray tell, exactly what do the opponents of teachers provide?

And Christie would make a fine President..after all, he single-handedly lost major education funding by sheer sloppiness fueled by a super-sized ego. I sure hope he changes his mind; America has a long history voting for bullies. America just LOVES them!

Isn't "Race to the Top" another Obama extension thingy, that spends even more on education?

What did Obama cut to get that extra money!

      Of course, nothing.

"Race to the Top" went against everything Christie ran on, and he got elected , in a "BLUE" State, on "No more over spending".

He's living up to his promises!

Yup, Christie was such an anathema to Christie that he single-handedly wrote a proposal to use that "dirty money." And he flubbed it (and refused to accept blame for his error) Yay! Christie for President! Huzzah!

          Try reality:

          http://www.nj1015.com/Governor-s-Budget-Address/6579266

This year, for example, some state employees will be given an 11% salary increase, at a cost of
$300 million to the taxpayers, while many New Jerseyans are lucky to even have a job.
          Incredible.
          * $700 million in one‐time revenues came in from granting amnesty to tax cheats in another
gimmick that was used to paper over problems. As usual, our government spent it all in one
year, and built that much more spending into the budget for this coming year, with no way to
pay for it now or in the future.
          * So too were federal stimulus funds for education irresponsibly spent all in one year – ‐‐ and
then simply added into the budget, with no way to pay for it this year.

          Before Chris Christie took office.

          Corzine was great, wasn't he!

Reminds me of how armies used to raze their own cities while leaving so the enemy would not have anything to work with.

Now that sums it up in a nutshell!

Corzine left him with nothing but more debt and lost money.

What are you trying to say teresa? LOL!

What about Cuomo? He's tougher than Christie. He used the "Take it or you leave" stance on his cuts.

Like the "Tuff" line I take it.

Time is running out on the "when will America get it". If we don't do something soon then "IT will be getting America". And it won't be gentle.
